ASL is primarily used in brain to measure cerebral blood flow (CBF), but can also be used to measure perfusion in other organs. Arterial Spin Labeled (ASL) perfusion MRI utilizes magnetically labeled arterial blood water as an endogenous tracer, providing non-invasive, quantitative, repeatable perfusion measurements in units of ml/min/100g of tissue.
